Now we will show you how to use Rank Math’s setup wizard to configure basic SEO settings on your website. Setup wizard makes it easy to make necessary settings for optimal SEO performance. 

After the initial setup, we’ll show you how you can tweak advanced SEO options to make your website SEO performance next level.

Let’s start!

STEP 1: Install & Activate the Plugin

The first thing you need to do is log in to your WP dashboard and go to Plugins > Add new. Then, search for Rank Math SEO, install it, and activate it.

STEP 2: Configure Setup Wizard

After you activate the plugin it will automatically prompt the setup wizard. Let’s take a look at how to configure the Rank Math setup wizard.

Connect your Account

Now you need to connect your site by signing up for a free account. It’s a crucial step that you must do to get access to all the tools. 

After signing up, the plugin will be able to use the Rank Math Application Programming Interface (API) to run more comprehensive tests for your site.

Mode Selection

Once your website is successfully connected with the Rank Math, it will ask you to choose the mode. As you can see, there are 3 modes in the Rank Math.

• Easy
• Advanced
• Custom Mode (Pro only)

If you choose the Easy setup option, Rank Math will automatically do the necessary SEO settings for your website. However, you can change the settings at any time. 

If you choose the advanced option, then you will have to manually make settings in it, if you want better control over the SEO settings of your website, then we recommend you select the Advanced setup option.

Note: You can switch between modes at any time without having any issues.

Connect Google Services

If you want to grow your business, it is crucial to measure it. In this step, we’ll show you how to connect your website with Google Services.

Click on the ‘Connect Google Services‘ button then it will ask you to select your Google account that is connected with Google Analytics & Google Search Console.

Now you have to grant permissions because Rank Math will perform many tasks for you.

Rank Math will display Google Analytics and Google Search Console data of your website in a more intuitive way within your WordPress dashboard.

If you haven’t set up GA and GSC for your website then you must need to set it up right now, Rank Math helps you to easily connect GA and GSC with your website in an automated way.

Once your account is verified, Rank Math will also submit your sitemaps to Google Search Console automatically.

Creating a Sitemap

Sitemap helps search engines quickly find, crawl, and index the content of your website.

You don’t need to install any other extra plugin to generate a sitemap, Rank Math has a built-in Sitemap generator that will automatically create an SEO-optimized Sitemap for your website.

You can also change the sitemap settings that you’ll find in the sitemap section. Here are all the settings.

If you don’t want to include any custom post or page type then you can simply exclude them here.

SEO Tweaks

In this step, we’ll tweak some basic SEO settings on your website. 

If you don’t want to index categories and tags then leave this option on. 

You can also add a global No follow attribute for all of your external links present on your website, but I don’t recommend this, leave this option off. 

Enable this option to automatically open links in the new tab.

Your Site is Ready!

Your website is now ready. If you want, you can return to the website dashboard from here. 

But here are some more advanced options in the configuration wizard and we will now proceed with their advanced options to make the most out of the Rank Math.

After you click on the ‘Setup Advanced Options‘ then you will be on the new page.

Role Manager

Rank Math has advanced role management features which you can configure from this page. 

If you are working with a team where you need to assign specific responsibilities to them, then this feature is for you.

Enable this option to see all the settings for each role. It is very easy to set up role management, you can always change these settings anytime.

404 Monitor and Redirections

Rank Math has an advanced 404 monitor and redirect manager. If you are using any other plugin for these features then you can deactivate them and start using Rank Math.

Schema Markup

Now it’s time to add Schema Markup to your content. Schema helps your content to stand out from the competitors and drive more traffic.
